World Tai Chi and Qigong Day

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day (WTCQD) is an annual event held the last Saturday
of April each year to promote the related disciplines of tai chi and qigong. It
begins at
10:00
a.m.
in
New
Zealand
and spreads by time zone around the world, ending in
Hawaii
.
Several hundred cities in at least sixty nations participate, with celebrations
including exhibitions and free classes.
WTCQD began in 1998 outside the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in
Kansas
City
,
U.S.A.
,
where the Kansas City Tai Chi Club held a large teaching exhibition. CNN
Headline News covered the event, which has been celebrated
globally ever since.
WTCQD exists to share medical research on the health benefits of tai chi
and qigong; to spread the word about their increasing use in business,
education, and health care; and to provide a global vision of cooperation in
health and healing around the world.
Locally, Three Treasures Wellness Center of Brazil, Indiana, is sponsoring a
free celebration of this event. It will be held on April 26th (the tenth
anniversary of WTCQD) from

a.m.
to
12
p.m.. Chris Leininger a
Certified Level III Instructor and Clinical Qigong Practitioner
with the National Qigong Association will be the keynote speaker and lead
instructor.
